Membership Information The Business Center of West Des Moines The West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce is an action oriented organization. Individuals and businesses work through the Chamber to advance economic growth. The Chamber asserts a leadership role in the areas of business retention, business recruitment, the development of increased business and tourism opportunities, and promotion of the quality of life offered in West Des Moines. The West Des Moines Chamber is an affiliate of the Greater Des Moines Partnership. Membership in the Greater Des Moines Partnership is available to you at no additional cost once you’ve become members of the West Des Moines Chamber. Our members are entitled to all of the benefits delivered by both organizations through this dual membership arrangement. New Business Contacts The Chamber puts its membership in touch with thousands of people who could become new clients, customers or patients. Our membership, currently in excess of 750 businesses throughout the Metro area, provides you and your business with unlimited networking opportunities. Some of the many events you can attend as a member to expand your contacts include: Monthly Membership Events – Held on the second Thursday of each month, the Membership Luncheon is the place to be if you want to know what’s going on in West Des Moines. Business news, city reports, special presentations, and speakers on issues of interest to our business members are just part of each month’s programs. Breakfast B4 Business events, held on the third Wednesday mornings each month offer informal networking opportunity to meet your fellow business members in a fun atmosphere at a variety of local business locations. Lunch & Learn Sessions - Join your fellow members each month for an informal lunch together with an hour long learning opportunity as we bring a series of speakers addressing a wide variety of topics of interest to small and mid-sized business. Focused Committees and Task Force Projects– Participation in committee activities and working with others on major projects and events offers members additional opportunities to meet business and professional people with similar interests. Special Events – Special events throughout the year bring members and the community together for both business and pleasure. Our events calendar is designed to provide your business maximum exposure in your support of our Chamber and community. Referrals The Chamber receives thousands of requests each year for recommendations on goods and services in West Des Moines and the surrounding area. We always refer Chamber members first to these customers. Available to Chamber members, at little or no cost are the following: Newsletter Advertising and Publicity – The monthly “West Side Story” e-mailed newsletter is delivered each month to 1,500 business people throughout the Metro area and beyond. Web Site Listings – Each member business and website is listed and linked on our West Des Moines Chamber web site (www.wdmchamber.org). Ribbon Cuttings – All member businesses are invited to sign up for a “Chamber Ribbon Cutting” to celebrate a grand opening, remodel, relocation, or other significant business milestone. Promotional Literature Distribution – Chamber members are welcome to bring promotional information to our monthly luncheons for distribution on the “sharing table”. OctoberWest—A day of family fun, OctoberWest provides entertainment for all ages. A number of sponsor and volunteer opportunities await. New Business Appreciation Luncheon—Our annual celebration of new businesses to West Des Moines or Clive. This event offers opportunities for you to meet the newest members of our business community. Music in the Junction – This popular Valley Junction event, give members an opportunity to serve as hosts in the beverage tent. Chamber Annual Dinner & Business of the Year and Citizen of the Year Award – In addition to installation of our new officers, part of this evening is the announcement of the West Des Moines Citizen of the Year and Business of the Year.
