Dear WDM Chamber Member:
This week, the WDM Chamber is pleased to host the Iowa Chamber of Commerce Executives (ICCE) Winter Conference starting Wednesday through Friday. The conference, themed "It's Time for a Chamber Tune-Up", will be held at the WDM Marriott and will feature sessions on social media, leadership programs, economic development and much more. On Thursday, the group will head up to the Capitol to visit with their individual legislators and Chamber lobbyists. Amongst the businesses helping to welcome these Chamber directors are: Blue Moon Dueling Piano Bar, Gateway Market, Flemings, West Glen and Valley Junction. Thanks to everyone who has helped us in the planning process.
Tomorrow is our Breakfast B4 Business event, held at Prairie Life Fitness at 7:30 AM. Join us for networking and breakfast while gazing at the lovely Prairie Life facilities.
Our new program, Business Boot Camp, was introduced at last week's luncheon. Business Boot Camp offers high skill training at very low prices. MEMBERSHIP TUNE-UP: COMING UP!
On Friday, February 26th at 11:30 AM, the Chamber would like to invite you to the "Membership Tune-Up" program. The program gives members and soon-to-be-members the chance to learn all about how to "get more mileage out of their membership". The hour-long program will feature brief and informative presentations from Chamber staff, as well as Ambassadors and Board Members on topics such as "Recharging Your Batteries", recapping the many networking opportunities offered by the Chamber; "Put the Spark in Your Plugs" which informed everyone of the many sponsorship and promotional opportunities which lie within the Chamber programming, and "Mapping Your Journey" which highlighted the many new and most convenient aspects of our Chamber website.

NEW VIEW KICK-OFF: March 10th
The Chamber's new young professional group, New View, will have it's Kick-Off event on Wednesday, March 10th, 5:30 to 7:30 PM at Cabaret in West Glen.
The event will include networking games, food, prizes and much more. Anyone who attends the New View event and signs-up that day will be eligible for a drawing for a trip for two to Las Vegas compliments of Cabaret West Glen!!!

CITY OFFERING "NEW BEGINNINGS"
The City of West Des Moines and Mid Iowa Small Business Development Center along with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will be offering a seven week course for business owners or anyone considering a start-up entrepreneurial enterprise. The course entitled "New Beginnings" is designed to address a growing need in the West Des Moines area for entrepreneurs to boost economic development and diversify its businesses, products and services. The future is filled with exciting promise for those with vision and innovative ideas and West Des Moines is inviting business owners with a new product or service; those considering an entrepreneurial endeavor; or those who seek to locate a business in West Des Moines to attend this "New Beginnings" course.
The course is Monday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. beginning March 22nd and running for seven consecutive Monday evenings through May 3rd at the West Des Moines Campus of DMACC. The course if $500. 12 scholarships are available.
