Citizen of the Year
Nominations Now Open for 2019 West Des Moines Citizen of the Year and Emerging Citizen of the Year.
The West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce annually recognizes a West Des Moines resident or business professional for Citizen of the Year in addition to an Emerging Citizen of the Year award.
These individuals show exemplary service to the community by maintaining business, civic and moral stands, whose service has brought credit and honor to the City.
Nominations for West Des Moines Citizen of the Year and Emerging Citizen of the Year are open through 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 2, 2018.
"The Citizen of the Year was created to promote and recognize the people, businesses and civic organizations that make this a great community in which to live, work and raise a family,” said Carole Chambers, President/CEO of the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce. “Celebrating the Citizen of the Year allows us to acknowledge and highlight the winners’ exemplary service to our city.”
Also, for the third year, the Chamber will be accepting applications for an Emerging Citizen of the Year. This award is designed to honor a person up to the age of 35, who has a demonstrated history of community involvement, civic engagement and a philanthropic impact through time, talent and/or treasure.
Nominations may be submitted in writing c/o WDM Chamber, 650 S. Prairie View Dr., Suite 110, West Des Moines, IA 50266, or by filling out on on-line nomination form below.
The Chamber will host a special event in honor of the Citizen and Emerging Citizen of the Year this May 9, 2018 at the Staplin Center for Performing Arts at Valley High School.
